Faith is about standing in the face of the unknown and taking a chance to accomplish something remarkable even when the outcome of the efforts is uncertain.
A person who decides to take a leap of faith, whether it’s leaving a job or pursuing a life long dream, must understand that one can still move forward despite being afraid. Self doubt is present even in the minds of some of the most confident people. However, the choice to stay afloat and ready to move forward despite the presence of apprehensions is what risk takers master daily. The following are lessons for someone deciding on whether or not to step out on faith to pursue a passion or dream. Develop Your Transition PlanTaking a leap of faith does not have to be a blind journey. It is important to have a plan in place even if it changes over time this ensures the end result is always in mind when making decisions. The transition plan may also involve tapping into temporary resources while making goals a reality is a work in progress. The transition plan is a way for a person not to feel overwhelmed when course of actions are slow in manifesting due to unforeseen circumstances. Overall, the person determined to make things happen understands that the pursuit of excellence is not an exact science so being able to adapt to change is essential. Create a Vision BoardA vision board is a pictorial demonstration of all of the goals and dreams a person wishes to accomplish. It can include photos of people and places that the person finds inspiring. Uplifting messages and personal words of wisdom can also adorn the board to personally capture the essence of the person. The vision board can simply be a poster or dry erase board but the most important thing is that it is visible in the person’s home or office. There is power in having a constant reminder of desires of the heart. Find a Support SystemA personal board of directors that can guide someone who is pursuing particular endeavors is a valuable asset to a person. This board of directors can also direct a person to influential contacts and supply bits of wisdom based on personal experiences. Pursuing one’s dreams does not have to be a lonely road but it definitely needs to be paved with the intentions of great people who enjoy helping others to succeed. Stay Involved in Things that are MotivatingNetwork and stay involved in activities with like minded people who are also engaged in pursuing life long passions and dreams. Staying motivated and encouraged is the hardest part of taking a leap of faith because things don’t happen over night when it comes to seeing positive results after taking huge risks. There will be moments when self doubt returns, but being involved whether it’s by volunteering or being around someone who has accomplished the goals the person is trying to achieve is beneficial. Overall, as the author Susan Jeffers states in her book on working towards one's goals, “feel the fear and do it anyway.” For more information on Susan Jeffers
