Improving Memorization in a Stressed-Out WorldMemory Loss is Commonplace When it Comes to Everyday Situations
It's easy to forget things in a world filled with commitments, responsibilities, obligations and pressure. There is often no time for detail on the fast track to success.
Memorization is easier for some than others, but it is achievable either way. There are ways memory can be strengthened and tested and most of all improved. Memorization skills are valuable in a world where being quick is almost necessary. There are some simple ways to sharpen the mind which will improve the memory or just sharpen the memorization of particular subjects, names, or things that a person would like to commit to memory. Ways to Improve MemoryThere are some traditional ways to improve the memory. Sometimes, it just takes a simple pad and pen and some ideas that need to be ordered. Start with small things that need to get out of the way and go onto larger ideas and projects.
Read more often; it makes the mind sharper and more focused. Facts will come easier if they’ve been reviewed in print time and time again. Make up a self test and focus, focus, focus. Try to take one topic at a time and focus on that one thing (not everything). For example, this week try focusing on television shows, next week politics, the following week it may be what is new and exciting in the world of the arts. Try to test it out and see if facts can be recalled (especially in conversations with other people) where it truly counts. Facts about everything and every topic cannot be recalled at once. Do a little at a time. Take a Quiz and Improve that MemoryIs there a willing party to help? Being quizzed might be fun for some and this is quick way to test the memorization of facts such as names, telephone extensions, math formulas and so forth. There are online games and puzzles that can help sharpen the memory, too. Don't forget good old fashioned crossword puzzles-they are great for improving vocabulary and keeping up-to-date on facts and current events. Write Everything Down or Teach Someone Else to Get a Better MemoryWriting reinforces what is being learned as does teaching someone else to do something. When all else fails, these two simple strategies can go a long way with almost anything that requires memorization. One example might be to keep a journal on hand for writing down directions to common places. Over time, the directions will be committed to memory. Help teach someone how to do something that is challenging (hooking up a DVD player). It will help to commit the steps of the task to memory when the task needs to be recalled in the future. Any and all of the exercises used to sharpen the memory will serve a mind well in a world where many things have to be done at one time. Having a great memory is an asset in dealing with people, work relationships, managing families, and trying to organize a life. Keep a sharp memory a top priority and the benefits will be life changing.
