Making decisions is a part of everyday life. No life can be complete or fulfilled unless some decision is made which either enhances or reduces its value.
Making decisions is an integral part of everyday life. No advancement ever occurs unless a choice is made. Reaching a decision is difficult as fear holds many people back. Fear becomes an irrational activity that stifles creativity. Those who wallow in the fear of failure find solace in drinking, drugs, sex and other negative behaviors. But life always demands choices be made. Without it there is no growth, no enjoyment and no peace. It requires skill to make the right decision. The rich and famous make mistakes at times that sometimes prove to be costly. While making decisions may seem complicated, they are not as difficult as they appear when all possible solutions are looked at. Success or failure are the two inevitable results from making choices. Failure in the minds of the masses means they are less qualified, less deserving of success. Far from the truth, failure is a better teacher than success, for it is failure that teaches and builds character. No school or university can teach anyone how to improve life. Even Abraham Lincoln failed, living through bankruptcy and some unsuccessful political endeavors before he became president. Failure from making the wrong decision should be embraced for the lessons it teaches. Successful people usually make more right choices than wrong as they have learned to use effective decision making techniques. The rules are simple. Applying them will lead to more success and a better lifestyle. Risk Taking is Essential for Success in Life Life does not provide a 100% guarantee that every decision will work out correct. Failure will happen, even under the best of conditions. A young man or woman may choose to study for career that becomes obsolete prior to graduation. They choose their life partner without assurance they're not marrying an abuser. They may choose to invest in areas that fail to bring an adequate return. The only ones who are assured of any success are the ones who stand in the welfare lines. Looking at Solutions in Life There's never just one way to do something. Personal and business problems present several solutions. All anyone can do is look at all the choices and pick the best one that offers the greatest chance for success. Sometimes it's simply better to create a solution than settle for what's available. The inventions of Thomas Edison or the creative genius of Soichiro Honda found solutions where none existed. Death is one area where no one has a choice. It is final. But once grieving has ended, the inevitable must be accepted so life can go on. No one is immune from making mistakes. A contingency plan is the best policy if the risk of failure is too great. An alternate plan will minimize the damage from the wrong decision. Act on the Decision and Avoid ProcrastinationOnly so much time should be spent on gathering the facts before making a choice. Procrastination is one of the biggest failures as it doesn't teach anything but elevates fear, doubt and worry. The danger lies in making a haphazard decision that has no basis in fact. Few people would ever think of investing money in securities solely based on the recommendations of a friend without first studying the viability of turning a profit. Time should be devoted to gathering facts. But once the facts have been gathered, the decision has to be made with the hope that it was the correct one. In most cases it will be. Trust the Decision Making ProcessMaking a decision is always risky. But once it has been made, the consequences, either good or bad, must be accepted. Business men and women sometimes make decisions based on hunches even when the facts may indicate otherwise. But rather than wallow in indecision, they go ahead anyway. They have a strong sense of their self-worth. If the decision proves to be wrong, they never berate themselves. Learn From the Wrong DecisionMistakes and errors happen. It's the ability to learn from the failure that insures the mistake isn't repeated again. Most people fail to see the lessons and are doomed to repeat them again. There's little use in letting the failure lead to depression and anger or blame it on other circumstances. Making decisions are not life threatening. Keeping a calm head, reviewing the facts and coming to a conclusion is the only reasonable recourse anyone has. But making a decision is better than making none at all.
