Money and the Law of AttractionA Review of Esther & Jerry Hicks' Book in the Abraham Series
The Abraham series continues with specific advice for attracting wealth, health, and happiness.
Esther and Jerry Hicks' latest book on the teachings of Abraham is Money, and the Law of Attraction: Learning to Attract Wealth, Health, and Happiness (Hay House Inc. 2008). As with all the Hicks' books, Money, and the Law of Attraction is tightly focused, easily read, and effectively reinforces a small number of significant concepts. How the Law of Attraction WorksFor the novice to the Law of Attraction, the concepts run counter to intuition, experience, and cultural teachings. The Law of Attraction explains that the universe functions on attraction rather than expansion. Achieving goals by expansion implies reaching out and taking action to obtain desired goals. This is what is normally taught. Achieving goals by attraction implies that desired goals are achievable by focusing on alignment with being and then taking actions that naturally follow. Thoughts AttractThe attractive force of the Law of Attraction is dependent on the frequency or vibration of a person's energy. A seeker of wealth, health, or happiness will attract aspects consistent with the vibrational energy of thinking about each. To attract desired goals, Hicks advises those desiring money to have positive thoughts about money. Thoughts that focus on the lack of money will have the inadvertent consequence of attracting more lack of money, as that is the vibrational match. Intend to Feel GoodHicks makes it clear that feeling good is a fail-safe indicator that one's thinking is well-aligned to what is really desired, "Anything that feels good to you is in harmony with what you want. Anything that feels bad to you is not in harmony with what you want. It is as simple as that." Therefore, to attract money, health, or happiness, adopt the intention to think in ways that result in good feelings. The Role of Thoughts and ActionsMost people are taught that success takes hard work and great effort to identify and overcome obstacles. Hicks advises that one's thoughts are more important and effective than the actions taken. In fact, Hicks explains that the act of focusing on obstacles may attract more obstacles since that will be the predominant vibration expended. Pivotal ThinkingUse pivoting to re-align thoughts to attract what is really desired. If a thought results in negative feeling of any sort, recognize this is a clue that thinking is actually directed toward what is not wanted. Since this will attract more of what is not wanted, pivot by asking what is truly wanted. For example, if one wants more money in order to pay bills and get out of debt, thinking is likely to be focused on the lack of money, again attracting more of the same. To pivot, focus thinking on the idea that money is coming easily in support of the necessities and desirable acquisitions one wants. Money, and the Law of AttractionIn Money, and the Law of Attraction, Esther and Jerry Hicks describe the basics for using attraction to gain greater wealth, health, and happiness. They identify many common misconceptions about attraction with examples of aligning thinking in the most effective ways.
