A review of Brenda Anderson's book describing our choices in terms of high and low energy and the events we attract as a result.
Playing the Quantum Field, by Brenda Anderson, describes our life choices as the energy states we inhabit and the resulting consequences to our lives. Anderson briefly ties her title to the science of quantum physics with references to the phenomenon of observation's affect on results. Quoting physicist Fred Alan Wolf, "Reality depends upon our choices of what and how we choose to observe. These choices, in turn, depend upon our minds, or more specifically, the content of our thoughts."
Playing the Quantum Field seems to be a book about the law of attraction, though Anderson never uses the term. Instead, she refers to The Field in ways that imply the law of attraction. She defines two end states and ten energy states in the energy spectrum, four of which she calls low energy, the remaining six are high energy states.
She calls the low energy end state the Black Hole, characterized as "those times when you feel as if you have no control, and descend into frustration, anger, depression, or hopelessness."
You can get drawn into the Black Hole from any of the four low energy states, which she names:
At the upper end of the energy spectrum, Anderson describes the end state of Breakthrough, apparently characterized by tapping into The Field, where all things are possible.
You have access to Breakthrough from any of the high energy states, which she names:
When we operate in one of these ten states by the choices we make, how we think, and what we do, we attract negative events from our low energy choices and positive events from high energy choices. Readers may be more familiar with this phenomenon as the law of attraction.
Anderson devotes a chapter to each of the ten energy states, with examples of choices and the consequences from her personal life and those of friends and acquaintances.
One low energy choice is termed Head Trips, which is repeatedly replaying a scenario in your head. According to Anderson, "Mentally replaying the same scenario and what-ifs over and over wears you down and leads you to make even lower-energy choices." She describes how to use The Field with six hints for overcoming Head Trips.
Playing the Quantum Field seems unduly complicated and obscure with repeated references to the arbitrarily defined ten energy states, the two end states, and a concept of living from force or power.
There are better choices available for explaining how a person's energy state attracts events of similar energy. One of the best is Excuse Me Your Life is Waiting, by Lynn Grabhorn. Nearly any material by Jerry and Esther Hicks in their Abraham series is also excellent. Ask and It Is Given is one example.
