Super-Performers - Why Some People Have it AllFocus, Balance, Organisation, Action and Visualisation Improve Lives
Do you want to improve your life and be a super-performer? By using focus, balance, organisation, action and visualation techniques your life can improve out of sight!
Ever wonder why some people seem to get everything done so easily and great opportunities seem to fall into their laps? There is a secret to their outstanding performance and it comes from a few key ideas that super-performers put into place day after day after day. FocusSuper-performers focus on their dreams and desires. Focus means that you understand what you want from this lifetime and don’t let yourself get interrupted along the way. However, don’t get caught in the trap of focusing on success in your career to the detriment of the other areas of your life. This moves us on to another area of super-performance – balance. BalanceBeing balanced means that as well as working hard, a super-performer takes time out to rest and recover. Balance is a word that is missing from many people’s lives as they run around, sometimes like headless chickens, trying to fit everything in. The best way to ensure that you can be balanced in your life is to take some time to be organised. OrganisationGreat performers and performances come from great organisation. Organisation is not hard to achieve, grab yourself a notebook and write down your goals for the short, medium and long term. Get yourself a diary and plan out your week, what you hope to achieve and what you need in order to achieve. Remember to put that space in for your balancing time – this can be meditation, relaxation or just running around with the kids in the park or seeing nature. The old maxim about handling every piece of paper that comes across your desk once rings true for great performers. Don’t umm and aah over the memo or letter, just decide what you are going to do about it and act on it. ActionIt’s great to be focused and have goals but that’s not much use if all you ever do is set the goals and then don’t follow through on the actions required to attain the goal. Super-performers don’t just pontificate, they act. Every day you can take small steps to reach a goal, for instance you may tell everyone that one day you want to write a novel and that's as far as your goal goes – a super-performer would not just have the goal, he or she would spend say 15-30 minutes each day working on that novel with a picture in their mind’s eye of completing the novel and sending it to the publisher. This is another trait of super-performers – the ability to visualise outcomes. VisualisationVisualisation is the goal setter’s best friend. By using visualisation techniques you can see yourself successfully performing any activity, be it dancing in public, hitting a hole in one at golf or approaching the boss about a pay increase. Find yourself a quiet place, close your eyes, think about your goal and let the positive pictures come into your head – see yourself place the golf ball on the tee, swing the club and connect, watch the ball fly across the fairway and drop into the cup with a resounding plop or if your goal is speaking in public, see yourself dressed in your finery, hear the introduction, run through your speech, see the audience enthralled by your every word and finally hear the cacophonous applause ringing throughout the room as you finish speech. When you visualise yourself achieving, your train your mind for success; mind training is as important as physical fitness training. Focus, balance, organisation, action and visualisation are the common traits amongst super-performers. Adopt these traits into your life and see yourself grow and develop to a new and exciting level.
