Using a Holistic Approach to Reach Your GoalsInvolve Your Mind, Body, Heart and Soul to Fulfill Your Dreams
People who successfully achieve their goals incorporate mental, emotional, physical and spiritual components into the planning, implementation, and evaluating process.
As a holistic being, one's thoughts, feelings, actions, and sense of purpose are interrelated within the dynamic self and with the world around you. Applying principles of the mind, body and soul connection to goal attainment can increase self-awareness, foster life purpose discovery, and improve spiritual bonds to a higher power and global community. Focus on One Goal at a TimeConquering several challenges at once can be overwhelming. If you find it difficult to make progress toward several goals at the same time, you may want to start by setting one clear, specific intention. Perform a life review to help you choose the area that requires the most attention. You may decide on a minor goal, such as "I intend to organize my closet," or a major life transition like, "I intend to lose 100 pounds." Mental – Change Negative Thoughts into Positive AffirmationsSelf-destructive or defeating thoughts will only deter your success. Optimistic thinkers can perceive the opportunities within failure or chaos. They remain flexible in establishing outcomes and interventions. Pessimistic or negative patterns of belief can subconsciously and mentally block you from living your life to its full potential. Harmful, underlying thoughts that automatically respond, "No you can't. You're not good enough," need to be reset so that the internal motivation is based on possibilities and capabilities. Emotional – Align Your Emotions with Your ObjectiveRegardless of the nature of your goal, expressing an attitude of gratitude, happiness, and confidence is essential to fulfillment. Embracing your desires with attributes of wisdom, resourcefulness, and curiosity can help you attract people, places, and situations that match your renewed passion. According to personal development guru Steve Pavlina, "Often a change in character is a crucial part of shifting your identity to become more congruent with your goals and intentions." In other words, your core character traits may need to be improved in order to support your ambitions. Physical – Take Steps Every Day Toward Your GoalGoal achievement requires physical action, dedication, and ongoing commitment. You are given the power of choice and free will to decide if you want to change. While a victim consciousness prevents you from moving forward, a hero or creator consciousness is empowering and progressive. When you assume control of your life and realize you are responsible for the reality you create, your personal level of power, willingness to heal your life, and drive to succeed can ultimately increase as well. Remain present, work on what you can do, and take at least one step each day to reach your goal. Spiritual – Soul and Goal ConnectionAdding a spiritual element to your objectives and desires can switch the focus of control from external influences to internal factors. Real success is obtained through self-love, inner peace, and recognizing that true prosperity comes from within. Holistic techniques, like journaling, meditation, or visualization exercises, can help you connect with a higher power, discover your true purpose, and offer guidance in relation to your goals. Setting aspirations and declaring victory should be a personal and purposeful experience which enhances self-awareness and spiritual growth. Involving your mind, body, heart and soul can increase your chances of success. During the goal process, remember to maintain affirming thoughts, ensure your emotions are aligned with success, take progressive action, and soulfully connect to your purpose. Sources:
